Dining Room Updates

We are THIS CLOSE to starting our house hunt again, and I couldn't be more excited. In the meantime, I am starting to go through some of our "stuff" and ditching things that we just don't need any more. This dining room update came from that process.

During one of my conversations with my husband about the small town we grew up in, I started browsing on Etsy for maps of our hometown and the surrounding area. In the last few years, I have become more and more interested in decorating our home with things that are intensely personal to us. I ended up ordering 2 maps in a 16x20 size. The frames I found at Michaels during a buy one/get one sale.

I prepared for our new art by filling the old nail holes in the dining room and freshening up the paint. That will help when we move out too! Then I hung our new maps.

When Ralph was packing up his mom's home to get her moved to Tennessee, she gave him the ocean painting opposite the head of the table. The ocean is important to both of us. In fact, one of our very first conversations, before we even had a first date, was about our vacation "wish list" of oceanside vacations we'd like to take someday.

That man is perfect for me.

Next up on my to-do list?

• An entry-way refresh now that the upstate New York winter is finally over

• Getting our patio set up for spring/summer relaxation

• A few updates in the living room

I'm really looking forward to having everyone here for Mother's Day weekend. Get togethers with the kids and extended family are one of the things I love most about our life now.
