Marginal Way in Ogunquit Maine
We live about four hours away from Ogunquit, Maine, and it has become part of our family's story. We've visited many times and for lots of different reasons, and the Maine coast never fails to bring us happiness.
Lounging on the beach is great, but one of my favorite activities in Maine is to walk Marginal Way. I will always remember H&M holding hands and walking ahead of me talking quietly, like best friends, A staggering along behind because he was having growing pains and his legs always hurt. As I write this, A is 13 (almost 14) and over six feet tall.
You access the starting point of Marginal Way by following a sidewalk down to the coast between hotel buildings. The walk is a paved path from the village along the rocky shore and into Perkins Cove. There you can have lunch, take photos of the boats, and browse the shops looking for the perfect sea glass earrings or shell bracelets.
These photos were taken in the fall, which is beautiful on the Maine coast.
I have no idea what these flowers are called, but they are an Atlantic coast classic.
There are plenty of places along Marginal Way where the bold and agile can climb over rocks and down to the water, although it isn't good swimming.
I love these benches. Once we find our forever home, I'm going to find some metal plates like these to put on the benches in our garden. They'll bring me a little bit of coastal tranquility every time I see them.
There are so many beautiful places to stop and take photos along Marginal Way!
Quintessential Maine- rocky shoreline, blue-gray waters and always the lighthouses.
Almost to Perkins Cove! It's almost a mile and a half of stunning views.
Picturesque Perkins Cove. When you're done taking photos, you can shop for taffy and tee shirts.
It's time for us to go back. We need a dose of the ocean air!
Are you fans of the Atlantic coast or do you prefer warm water destinations? I'd love to hear about your favorite seaside spots!
