The Best Slow Cooker Barbecue Chicken

I've been working hard to get family recipes saved on the blog. It's amazing how many things I photographed and then never posted. I promise I actually have a life outside of the kitchen, but you won't be able to tell for a while.

I am not a gourmet cook. Unlike my Alyssa and her husband, who enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and getting out to try new recipes, my taste is simple and for the most part we are content with classic comfort food- good ol' American cuisine. There isn't much that is more quintessentially American than barbecue in the summer, and if it's too hot to go outside you can get that same flavor in the air-conditioned comfort of your kitchen. Even better, you can let your slow cooker do all the work.

  • 4 plus boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 bottle approx 18 oz bbq sauce. We like Sweet Baby Ray's original, and sometimes use SBR no sugar added sauce.

  • 1/2 cup zesty italian dressing

  • 2 TBS worstershire sauce

Place chicken breasts in bottom of slow cooker. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over chicken. Cook on low 6-7 hours or until chicken is easily shredded with two forks. Serve on toasted buns with cole slaw and pickles.

I hope you'll give this recipe a shot when you're craving a little bit of summer. Enjoy!
